The second major town in Zimbabwe after Harare, Bulawayo is one of Zimbabwe's most important commercial and cultural hubs. With wide tree lined streets and also surrounded by beautifull parks, the city is a perfect place to see majestic early Victorian buildings and they are maintained by the Bulawayo City council and landlords as heritage sites.

The city houses many of Zimbabwe's main tourist attractions like the National museum, Matopas National Park, the Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage as well as the grave of legendary adventurer Cecil John Rhodes.

Museum of National History

The museum houses over 75000 specimens making it the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Its worth a visit as its also home to the second largest mounted elephants and a large collection of exhibits such as wildlife, bird, insects exhibits as well as historical and mining displays.

Matobo National Park

Occupying a total area of 44, 000 hectares, the park is a UNESCO Heritage site and it has black and white rhinos safely inhabiting its terrains. The park offers tourists a diverse package attractions and activities such as hiking and a wide range of wildlife. It is also the site of Cecil Rhodes' grave

Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage and Research Centre

Also worth a visit is the Chipangali Wildlife Orphanage and Research Centre, a home for orphaned, sick or abandoned wild animals. There are lion, leopard, cheetah, black rhino; many species of antelope and a large colletion of birds.
