Bara Imambara

Built by the Nawab Asaf-ud-daula in 1784, Bara Imambara is one of the largest buildings in Lucknow. The name ‘Bara Imambara’ is an Urdu word, wherein the word ‘Bara’ means big and ‘Imambara’ means the shrine complex. The complex includes the Asfi mosque and the Bhulbhulaiya or the Labyrinth. The Asfi mosque contains the tomb of Asaf-ud-daula, and the labyrinth is the only maze in India and supports the massive structure of the whole complex from the underground. It is said that the building was built as a relief for the famine that occurred in the year 1784.

Jama Masjid

Also one of the most exquisite attractions in Lucknow, it was built entirely with yellow sandstone by Sultan Ahmed Shah in the year 1423. The building is famous due to its beautiful style and intricated architecture.

You can also find the Lucknow Chikan which is exlusive to the love city. Chikan is a very famous thread work that is done by the skilled craftsmen of Lucknow. It is combines with Zardosi (embroidery with gold and silver threads) and crystal work and embroidered on clothes for women, men, kids, mats, bed sheets, table mats and just about anything you can think of. They make great gifts and beautiful souvenirs.
