AIDAnova: World's First Cruise Ship Powered by LNG at Sea and in Port

Carnival Corporation's AIDA Cruises has unveiled the AIDAnova, the world's first cruise ship powered by LNG at sea and in port. At 337 metres long and a capacity of 6,600, the $1.2 Billion cruise ship is the line’s largest cruise ship ever yet and currently the fifth biggest in the world.

The ship features 23 bars, 17 restaurants, a beach club, floating TV studio, theatre, water slides, a rock climbing wall and an outdoor gym. It weighs 184,000 tonnes and also features a massive Penthouse Suite which extends over two decks and has robotic staff.

At the end of September, AIDAnova will head to Eemshaven in the Netherlands for final fittings and sea trials before being delivered to AIDA Cruises on November 15 in Bremerhaven, Germany. The ship is scheduled to make its inaugural voyage on December 2, from Germany to the Canary Islands.
